Ingredients
A small piece of fresh ginger, either thinly sliced or finely shredded, depending on how bold you want the flavor.
Juice from half a lemon
1 teaspoon raw honey
1.5 cups warm or room temperature water
Optional:
A splash of apple cider vinegar
A light pinch of ground cinnamon
Instructions
Grate the ginger. Use a microplane or slice it fine. Fresh ginger brings the heat and depth, so don’t skip this part.
Squeeze your lemon. Fresh juice, always. Bottled lemon can’t compete with real citrus.
Combine in a mug or jar. Pour in the warm water, mix in the honey until it blends easily, then add the ginger and a splash of lemon to bring it all to life.
Let it settle for a minute. This allows the flavors to open up, especially the ginger.
Drink it slowly. You can strain it if you like, but I leave the ginger in. I like the bite.
